How
Clutter Affects Your Finances
The word "clutter" comes from an Old English word, "clott," which means, "to cause to become blocked or obscured." Like a blood clot that blocks circulation in a vein, clutter of any kind is an energy block that prevents chi -- vital energy -- from circulating through your home and life. According to the ba gua (the feng shui energy map), the rear left corner of any space is associated with wealth and "fortunate blessings." (For those who follow the compass-oriented methods of feng shui, this area is the SE sector.) When this part of your home or office is cluttered, the energy there will be stagnant and lacking in vitality; as a result, your financial situation may feel stuck or hopeless as well. If financial wellbeing is a priority for you, you'll want to make sure that these areas are clean, tidy, and clear of clutter. As important as the ba gua is in feng shui, however, you should not confine your financial clutter-clearing to just the wealth areas of your space. Here are some other specific ways in which clutter may be affecting your financial life: It should be obvious that clutter in your office slows your productivity, leads to wasted time spent looking for misplaced things, and adds to your stress. In feng shui terms, clutter anywhere in your office also prevents new ideas and business opportunities from manifesting. If you want to attract new clients or make greater forward progress in your business, one very effective strategy is to get rid of desktop clutter and clean out your file cabinets and hard drive to make room for new projects, customers, and ideas. Closets and other closed storage areas represent things that are hidden, unknown, or unrecognized. Feng shui teaches us that when we fill our closets with clutter we block our clear understanding of what's going on in our lives, and stifle our ability to be intuitive and insightful. Cluttered closets can indicate problems that you may not be consciously aware of but which impede your progress nonetheless. This is as true for your office closets and storage areas as it is in your home. If your work has not been going well, and you can't figure out why, getting rid of hidden clutter can help bring hidden problems out into the light where you can figure out how to solve them. In feng shui, the kitchen is so closely associated with your ability to earn a good income that the stove is called your "wealth generator." Kitchen clutter blocks your sources of abundance, so make sure that the area around your stove is clean and uncluttered. That includes nearby cabinets spaces and any storage spaces above or under the cooktop. De-cluttering your kitchen opens up space for you to receive financial nourishment. In feng shui terms, bedroom clutter is a subtle but powerful stressor that interferes with your ability to get a good night's sleep -- and that will affect every aspect of your life, including your job performance and earning ability. Often we think of the bedroom as being a purely personal space where we go to get away from our work life. But the bottom line is that if you do not get adequate rest, your mood, mental acuity, and energy will all be affected. You can't excel at your work when you are chronically tired, and anyone in a profession that requires creative thinking especially needs to ensure and protect their ability to get a good night's rest. Creating order out of chaos in your bedroom will help you to get the rest you need. In the long run, this will greatly support you in staying healthy and performing -- and earning -- at your best. No matter how severely financial worries may be dragging you down, I guarantee that tackling clutter in these key areas of your home and office will dramatically improve your mood, energy, and problem-solving ability. And then your money concerns won't seem quite so unmanageable. Keep in mind that yard sales and online auction sites are a good way to turn old energy (lingering in your home as stuff you no longer need or want) into spendable money if you need immediate cash flow. Another benefit of getting rid of clutter is that it can literally lighten you up and help you lose weight. All that stuck energy in your environment affects you on both emotional and physical levels, and encourages extra pounds to hang around. If you are feeling listless and uninspired to take action about your finances in part because you are overweight or out of shape, getting rid of clutter everywhere in the house should be a key part of your financial strategy. The space you create by releasing clutter will allow all kinds of gifts to flow into your life: material, spiritual, and emotional. Feng shui helps us to see that letting go of excess creates space to receive the "fortunate blessings" that are the essence of financial success. Shui Q+A (Most questions will have been edited for clarity and length, and any identifying details have been changed. Please note that due to the high volume of email I receive, it is no longer possible for me to respond to every question personally. I still welcome your questions, and if I cannot provide a personal response I will try to address your issue in a future Q+A column.) Q: : "I laid the ba gua map over my floor
plan and discovered that my "Helpful Friends" area is in the carport.
It's open and there is a windchime there and flowers around. What else
can I do there? Second, you are right to see bathroom and the laundry room in the tai chi (center of ba gua) as a feng shui challenge. This area is associated with the EARTH element, so adding fire (your red candles) will support earth. However, the strongest influence in these spaces is all that plumbing, which is WATER energy. So if you just add candles or red accents, you now have a water-fire conflict in those spaces, which can lead to arguments and conflict in the home especially when it is in the tai chi. My recommendation is to also add uplifting wood energy (preferably green plants) to these rooms to absorb the excess water and counteract the draining effect of the plumbing. Adding BOTH wood AND fire energy creates a creative relationship between WATER, WOOD and FIRE to support the EARTH quality of the tai chi.

We've often mentioned electropollution as a major source of sha chi that we as modern humans have to be concerned about. You might have the best laid out rooms and the proper placement of cures, but if you sleep in a bedroom or work in an office where you are constantly bombarded by EMF from electrical wiring and/or electrical/electronic appliances and equipment, your stress levels and health will suffer. It is estimated that our DAILY exposure to EMF radiation is 100 million times higher than it was in our grandparents' time. In fact, industrialized countries in North America, Western Europe and China emit so much EMF energy that it can be sensed by satellites in space. These fields have shown to significantly disrupt
the sensitive signals with which our brains and nervous systems communicate.
Numerous studies from leading scientists have linked long-term EMF exposure
to increased risks for The BIOPRO Home Harmonizer is designed to neutralize the electrical current running through your home and/or office. You just plug it in and the unit creates a 60-ft radius spherical field that not only harmonizes the EMF emitted by the miles of wires in your home or office but also spreads a balancing yet invigorating subtle energy field. The effect is a safer and healthier environment for sleep, work or any other activity for yourself, your children and your pets. The Harmonizer also neutralizes the EMF from any electrical device or appliance that is plugged into the same circuit as the Harmonizer unit. This means that if you have a computer in the same room as the Harmonizer, for example, the EMF from that computer is also effectively harmonized (check your circuit breaker panel to confirm the various circuits in your house). Create an electropollution-free zone in your home and office with the BIOPRO Home Harmonizer. To order or for more details, click here. Clearing Tip "VACATION" FROM CLUTTER When you go on vacation, you carry only what you will need for the time you are going to be away from home. That's one reason vacations are so relaxing... we get away from the overwhelm of too much stuff. If you can easily go for a week or two without the majority of the stuff in your home, you can probably live without a whole lot of it forever. Asking yourself, "How long could I live without this item?" can help to clear out a lot of stuff. Of course, one of the things that makes home "home" instead of a hotel room is that it is full of all those things we love but which don't travel with us. Somewhere in the middle there's a state of perfect balance: the freedom and peace of a vacation, and the comfort and pleasure of being surrounded by the things we love... without the clutter! Enjoy the process. "There are a lot of books about getting
rid of clutter, but this program is a life-changing experience."

Charity One click will fund the preservation of 11.4 square feet of endangered rainforest. You don't pay a penny. Sponsors will pay for the services your click provides. Isn't that cool? Originally, 6 million square miles of tropical rainforest existed worldwide. As a result of deforestation, only 2.6 million square miles remain today. The race is on to save our rainforests and the incredible biodiversity they hold. Funding generated by The Rainforest Site goes to pay for rainforest acquisition and management, ensuring the protection of Earth's biological diversity. The amount of land protected depends on the number of visitors to The Rainforest Site. So please click every day, and spread the word to family and friends!
