Choosing
Non-Traditional Cures Q. Is there any special symbolism around kites in feng shui, and is it okay to use them in the home? A. As far as I know, kites do not have any specific feng shui meaning; in other words, you are not likely to find "kite" included in the index of a book about feng shui. As an outdoor cure, you could use a kite anywhere you might use a flag, whirly-gig, or other wind-powered chi-activator. For this purpose, a kite with a long tail or streamers would be best. As for whether or not it's a good idea to hang a kite inside the home, you are the only person who can decide that. What I'm getting at here is that any symbolic meaning that a kite (or anything else) has for you is far more important than whether or not it has a recognized feng shui meaning. If kites have a positive meaning for you personally, then they will be a positive addition to your home. For example, perhaps some of your fondest childhood
memories are of flying a kite with your Dad in a meadow on Sunday afternoons.
To you, kites might carry a range of associations such as: All of these are very positive associations. So for someone with that kind of experience, a kite could be a strong and effective symbol with which to activate a specific area of the home, depending on which life aspects (as reflected in the ba gua energy map) are most in need of these qualities and characteristics. But someone else might have very different feelings about kites. Maybe the kite belonged to an older sibling who didn't want to share. Or maybe you didn't have a kite and wanted one desperately, but Dad was stressed about work or money, and lost his temper, yelling and scolding, and the afternoon ended with you in tears and Dad drove straight home without stopping at the ice cream stand. For someone with this kind of experience, kites might
be associated with feelings of: A third person may have been terrified by a large kite with a dragon design that someone else was flying and which suddenly plummeted out of the sky right at them. If you had negative experiences like this, kites would not be a good symbol for you to have in your home because of the unpleasant associations that they have for you. When you are wondering whether or not to use any kind of non-traditional feng shui cure (i.e., anything that's not in the index of your feng book), ask yourself the following questions:
Think about how the image or object might be related
to any of the areas of the ba gua. For example: Think about the color and shape of your kite, and
how that reflects the feng shui elements: Keep in mind that a kite or any object with sharp corners could be a source of "secret arrows" so be sure to hang or place it is such a way that it is not pointing at anything important (such as doorway, your favorite chair, your desk or bed, etc.) Pay attention to anything that comes up as you think about the object you have in mind. For example, in the U.S. the expression, "Go fly a kite!" might come to mind. This dismissive phrase means "Get outta here; I don't take you seriously; you don't know what you're talking about." If you've never heard this expression before, it's not deeply lodged in your subconscious and you can safely forget it and go ahead and hang that kite wherever you like. If you've heard this phrase a lot, perhaps you don't want to hang that kite in Li or Kan gua after all. On the other hand, perhaps what you most need in your work life is a stronger sense of playfulness and fun, regardless of your type of work. If this is so, a kite on the wall may be just what you need. As you can see, the decision about whether and how to use a kite -- or any other non-traditional item -- as a feng shui cure is a very personal one. It should be based on careful exploration of the psychological and emotional connotations that this object has for you (which often date back to childhood experiences) as well as on your specific needs and goals in the present time. You can use the guidelines presented here to evaluate the appropriateness of virtually any object or image. The stronger the positive associations, the more powerful the item will be for you as a feng shui cure. Happy kite-flying, everyone!
It's nice and breezy here this afternoon; I wonder if I remember how to fly a kite...

When
'Just Do It' Isn't Enough: (This fifth installment of our series of clutter articles is now available on the FastFengShui.com articles page:) One reason so many clutter-clearing efforts fail or remain uncompleted is that we have this idea that all that it takes to get rid of clutter is a little effort and determination. While a "just do it" attitude does help you get started and persevere, clutter-clearing is not quite so simple as that. Running unprepared into the not-so-simple aspects of clutter can bring all of our good intentions to a halt. For every piece of clutter that has piled up because we've been too busy or too distracted to deal with it, there's probably at least one piece that you have avoided dealing with for emotional reasons. The underlying problem is not procrastination, it's that dealing with clutter means dealing with our own difficult emotions... Click here to read the rest of the article

Resource The INVISIBLE PATH TO SUCCESS is a very effective and easy method for focusing on what you truly desire and connecting more strongly with your inner power. I like this methodology a lot as a companion for the feng shui empowerment process as well as for any kind of self-actualization work. It also provides some very useful exercises for releasing unconscious blocks that may be contributing to difficulty in manifesting the life you desire. Highly recommended. Charity One of the most fundamental prosperity laws is the principle that "it is in giving that we receive." In practicing feng shui we not only realize how connected we are with our everyday environment, but we go beyond and realize we are connected with everything else in the world. What we give does come back.
