December 1, 2005 Fast Feng Shui Newsletter In
this issue: Aloha,
friends:
As I write this, it is November 30th, and I have just completed the "National Novel Writing Month" challenge to produce 50,000 words of new fiction between November 1st and 30th. After years of focusing on and writing about feng shui, the time had come for me to listen to the inner voice that wants to write a novel. It was more fun that I had imagined, but also more absorbing, and I now have a month's worth of "real life" to catch up with. I'll get back to the usual newsletter format with the next issue, complete with a new article and Q+A for you. For now, if there is any kind of creative yearning that's been whispering in your ear -- whether it's a novel idea, the urge to bake a pumpkin pie, or a desire to take an art class -- I encourage you to take action on it. We are all creative beings, whether in big ways or small, and without creative expression, we can't experience true fulfillment. What are you doing to express your creativity? If you've ever thought you might want to try your hand at writing a novel, check out the National Novel Writing Month website: www.nanowrimo.org and start planning now to join in the fun next November. It's a global challenge, by the way, so anyone from anywhere can participate. If you don't want to wait until next year, NaNoWriMo founder Chris Baty has written a delightful book, No Plot? No Problem!, that will guide you through a 30-day novel writing challenge any month of the year. And if you're curious about the novel I've been writing, well, you'll just have to wait. 50,000 words is a lot to write in a month, but it's only about half of a complete rough draft -- and then come the editing and rewriting stages. So, other than apologizing for not having written a new feng shui article for you, that's as much as I'm going to say about it. That and no there's really not much feng shui in it at all. But there might be, by the time it's done. In the meantime, I also have more Fast Feng Shui projects to which I need to turn my attention. You'll be hearing about those long before the novel is done. MY GIFT TO YOU

Clutter
Clearing Tip USING A TIMER Setting a timer is a good way to get a little bit of clutter clearing done when your motivation and energy are low. Timers are also a good way to moderate your effort when you're really "on a roll" and just want to keep going and going... which is a good way to reach "burnout." Use a timer to remind yourself to take a 10-minute break every hour. Or you may find you work most effectively with a 5- minute break every 30-minutes. Experiment with pacing to find what works best for you. The goal is to not to work as feverishly as possible for as long as possible, but to pace yourself for maximum effectiveness over a long period of time... not just today, but over the weeks or even months of steady effort that may be required to reclaim your home from clutter. "My income tripled last year, mostly in
the second half of the year. I think that part of it is the economy,
but a lot of it is the [effect of clutter clearing]. It does take time
to undo years of accumulation. But each little step is huge."
A hui ho! (until next time),
