The Year of the Goat begins today, February
1st, 2003, according to the Chinese Lunar Calendar. The following article
by guest expert Paul Darby outlines what you can expect in the Goat
Year, based on your own Chinese animal sign.
THE
YEAR OF THE GOAT 2003
The year of the goat is seen in Chinese culture/tradition
as a time of steady progress. The goat/sheep/ram symbolizes good fortune
and abundance! It is a year for focusing on personal relationships,
your personal side. Try to become more sensitive, caring and slow down!
It is also a time of good creativity, especially in March/April time
and then in the summer around July.
Within Chinese legend, there are twelve animals each
representing a year. Each animal has certain personality traits and
is affected by the energies of each particular year. In this article,
I will briefly describe the year ahead for each animal.
Your Personal Animal Sign
To find your animal sign, use your birth year (let's say 1949), take
the last two digits (49), divide by 12 and you will get a remainder
(for 1949, the remainder is 1, which makes you an OX).
NOTE: If you are born in January/February, you need
to consult a feng shui or Chinese astrology book to discover your animal.
The Chinese Lunar New year can occur throughout these months, so you
may be linked to the year before your actual birth year!
We already have seen the remainder 1 means you are
the OX. Here are all of the animals:
Remainder:
0 = RAT: intuitive with people, quick minded-can be greedy and
like to be in control. Famous rats-Hugh Grant, Prince Charles, Buddy
Holly, Lauren Bacall.
1 = OX: perfectionist, finds it hard to delegate- can be stubborn.
Famous ox- Anthony Hopkins, Peter Sellers, Princess Diana, Jack Nicholson.
2 = TIGER: very charming, attractive, beguiling-but can be vindictive.
Famous tigers-Princess Anne, Marilyn Monroe, Oscar Wilde, Groucho Marx.
3 = RABBIT: the peacemaker-hate confrontation, very sensitive,
do not like change. Famous rabbits- David Beckham, Orson Welles, Arthur
Miller, Billie Holiday.
4 = DRAGON: powerful, like to be in charge, great listeners and
advisers-can become bossy. Famous dragons-Faye Dunaway, Pele, Paul Getty,
John Lennon.
5 = SNAKE:need to be around people, but need strict privacy as
well charming, great smile, but can have a secretive side. Famous snakes-Tony
Blair, Michael Portillo, Mae West, Grace Kelly, Greta Garbo.
6 = HORSE: creative, strong, determined, can be stubborn. Famous
horses- Paul McCartney, Richard Harris, Mike Tyson, Lisa Stansfield,
Rita Hayworth.
7 = GOAT (also called SHEEP or RAM): very creative, even zany,
unique way of doing things, terrible timekeepers! Famous goats-George
Harrison, Sophie Ellis- Bextor, Jane Austen, Laurence Olivier, Margot
Fonteyn.
8 = MONKEY: lively, enthusiastic, youthful looking--can be difficult
for them to discuss things and make decisions, can be deceitful! Famous
monkeys-Omar Sharif, Bob Marley, Joan Crawford, James Stewart.
9 = COCKEREL (also called ROOSTER): life is an adventure, full
of highs and lows. Drain their energy levels quickly and can be very
fussy over little things! Famous cockerels-Dolly Parton, Nick Faldo,
Eric Clapton, Mary Quant, Joan Collins.
10 = DOG: very loyal, good at organizing, but moody and tend
to not see the long-term objectives! Famous dogs- Madonna, Liza Minnelli,
Sylvester Stallone, Sophia Loren.
11= PIG (also called BOAR): love style, class, luxury-very creative-can
tend to be gullible and pessimistic. Famous pigs- Elton John, Maria
Callas, Tennessee Williams.
Your Forecast for the Goat Year 2003
RAT: Gaining lost ground this year; sort out
finances and increase your income. There will be a renewed career impetus
around May time. Work on close relationships--you have ignored them
for too long!
OX: Ups and downs this year. Don't take any risks with finances.
You will need emotional support. Focus your attention on a few projects
and ignore the rest. The early summer will be a crucial time for making
a big decision!
TIGER: A lack of zing (unusual for the tiger) still, progress
will be steady, with a couple of hiccoughs early in the year! Learn
calmness, learn to take time out! March and April could be tricky, with
a steadier, fruitful time in the Autumn.
RABBIT: Calm and settled. A lucky year, true love is waiting
for you. Personal and business lives are very rewarding, try to be more
confident in yourself. A great September!
DRAGON: You will have more time to plan and think deeply. Romance
ia highlighted in May and June, and is associated with faraway places!
Sort out plans, and ensure they are secure!
SNAKE: Stay with what you know, what you do well. Avoid drastic
changes this year. Try to make good business contacts; networking is
important. There will be a touch of glamour in your life in the summer!
HORSE: Steady, slow progress; delay any major new plans for a
couple of years yet! Ensure that you are surrounded with supportive
people who will reassure you and help you feel good. Watch for a decision
which must be made in March/April. Ask for advice and take it!
GOAT/SHEEP/RAM: A busy time, so take care to keep energy levels
charged up. Watch out for frustrations early in the year. Things WILL
improve from April onwards! Stay practical, think things out, romance
is highlighted in the autumn! MONKEY: Plenty of business opportunities,
there is much to achieve! Money should flow in, but love may flow out;
March is crucial! A problematic relationship needs sorting, do not wait
any longer! Try to think things out carefully before tackling this.
ROOSTER: A good year, after some poor ones! A year for advancement,
good decisions, changes and movement! Widen your thinking and expand
your networking! One relationship in particular will be worth the effort;
June could be a crucial time!
DOG: Personal matters need sorting! These matters may be costly
in time and money, but they will be worth it. Focus on the home, get
strong emotional support around you. A chance to move may suddenly appear
around May/June time. Go for it!
PIG/BOAR: There's a caution and a slowness about things at the
moment and this may not change until July/August. Be patient, do not
give up; better times are on their way. Relationships and people close
to you are the keys to lasting contentment and success so look close
by, not far away!
