   Career Tips- Part 2

In the previous issue, we focused on activating kan gua* with water energy to enhance career success. Kan gua is the first place we usually look to make feng shui adjustments to improve our career, but there are other guas that impact your work life as well.

kan gua

It's often useful to look at the gua opposite your area of focus, and see what's going on there. When Career is the issue, look also at "li gua" - the central area on the far side of the room (also associated with the direction South). Li, the "Fame" area, affects your reputation and how others perceive you. It has to do with the qualities and achievements that you are known for, both good and bad.

li gua

Look for any problems in li gua - such as clutter, water leaks, non-functioning equipment or appliances, or sharp angles - that could be undermining your reputation at work. Li is also associated with "illumination" and your ability to see into the future, so make sure windows in this area are clean and that you have sufficient lighting for whatever activities you pursue there. This will help to ensure that you are able to see your career situation and any new opportunities clearly and realistically.

Once problems in li gua have been addressed, you can activate this area with Fire energy colors (reds and hot oranges) and shapes (triangles and other pointed or flam-like shapes), and support it with green plants or other Wood energy.*

Li gua is a good place for a visual image that represents how you would like to be recognized in terms of your career success. Make something up yourself, such as:
- A cover to an appropriate trade publication with you as person of the year
- A future interview (written by you) in which you comment on your outstanding accomplishments
- A notice in the in-house newsletter of your dream employer announcing your appointment to the position you want.

You can frame this imagined future success in red and place it on the wall, or place it in a red envelope in a li gua power spot. Don't forget to use the body-speech-mind empowerment process to strengthen the energy of your cure! Spend a few minutes focusing on your desired outcome for 9, 27, or 108 days.

With warm aloha, and best wishes for your career success,
