"I was ready to move, to a new country, county, a town, anywhere. My husband and I were in a rut, unhappy with our lives, our job and our 'things'. After reading your book, we are both energized and ready to change all that. We are actually enjoying the togetherness of our experience in going through all our 'stuff'. Thanks for the experience. I really recommend this book."

Feng
shui (say "fung shway")
is an ancient Chinese practice that aims to maximize the beneficial
movement of chi (the life force present in all things) through
a space.
Where chi
is strong the land will be lush and fertile, nourished by a
good balance of sunlight and water, and supporting abundant and
healthy plants, birds and animals. Where chi is weak the
land will be barren, water is scarce or stagnant, and plant and
animal life suffers. Just as fresh air, clean water, and organic
foods nourish our physical bodies, so does fresh, clean chi
nourish our lives. When there is a smooth flow of beneficial chi
throughout your home, your life will be easier. Without a nourishing
flow of chi, your relationships, creativity, health, cash
flow and career may suffer.
Feng shui
means "wind and water." Chi wants to meander through
your home like a gentle breeze or a winding stream. Where the flow
of chi in your home is blocked or weak, it is like a pond
choked with algae and fallen leaves. You may feel tired, depressed,
unable to focus, hampered in your efforts to move forward in your
life.
Where chi
flows too strongly, it is like a hurricane or flood. You may feel
out of control, overly emotional, or anxious much of the time. Business,
cash flow, and relationships feel unstable as you struggle to "keep
your head above water" through what seems like an endless string
of bad luck.
Feng shui uses
shapes, colors, textures, sound, light, symbolic imagery and the
arrangement of your furniture to adjust the energy of your home.
Just as acupuncture works by correcting the flow of chi through
the human body, feng shui works by directing the flow of chi
through your home. This is why it is sometimes called "acupuncture
for the home." Positive influences are encouraged and enhanced,
while negative factors are corrected.
The goal is
to create an attractive, safe, and nurturing space in which you
can live and work more comfortably and productively....
